Capitol Hill Celebrates Heroes At Both Ends of the Leash
On Monday, November 7, Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, presided over Capitol Hill’s “Tribute to War Heroes…at Both Ends of the Leash.” The event was a unique celebration of America’s military heroes, honoring human and canine veterans alike. Among the VIPs attending were three winners of the first-ever American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ presented by cesar® canine cuisine. The show is being broadcast nationwide by the Hallmark Channel on Veterans Day, 11/11 at 8 pm ET/PT.
Along with heartwarming and inspirational stories from the Hero Dogs’ handlers, and remarks from Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of American Humane Association and William J. Abbott, President and Chief Executive Officer of Crown Media Family Networks, participants saw a preview of the upcoming Hero Dog Awards broadcast. The production features Betty White, Carson Kressley, Mickey Rooney, Peter Fonda, Michelle Forbes, Pauley Perrette, and Susan Orlean – author of RIN TIN TIN, the first American war dog hero, legend, and “national spokesdog” for the American Humane Association.
